I want to believe that there is no difference between us.
I want to believe that our spirits do not end with death.
I want to believe that the essence of us will travel on into the next life.
I want to believe that it doesn’t matter what name you call your God.
I want to believe that all religions are equal, and everybody’s spirit will be saved as long as they live by the principles of love and enlightenment.
I want to believe that hatred and anger are only misguided attempts at finding happiness.
I want to believe that petty differences are not important.
I want to believe that borders are only illusions created by capitalist and imperialist governments.
I want to believe that all men and women are indeed created equal.
I want to believe that class, social status or wealth are of no significance to our essence.
I want to believe in a world where peace is within grasp.
I want to believe in you.

Author’s Note: This story was a little outburst of imagination and inspiration that I wrote back in 2010. I’m not even sure you can call it a story… Maybe it’s a little reflection of my thoughts on humankind. (Yes, I admit I am a deep pessimist when it comes to human beings. ;) )

I intended there to be a huge ‘BUT’ implied with every one of the statements. I want to believe, but… Because none of these above statements look as though they were true, judged by human behavior. So, in a way, this is maybe the outcry of an idealist…
