Adventures of Bri – what a voice!

It’s been a while since I wrote the last blogpost in this category, mainly because I wasn’t as active searching around Youtube anymore. (It takes a lot of time. ;) ) And even though I stzill don’t do that the way I used to, recently I stumbled over an incredible artist. She’s hosting the channel “Adventures of Bri” on which she posts cosplay/singing videos (mostly Walt Disney) as well as Let’s Play videos. Nowadays, Youtube is flooded with cosplayers and wannabe-singers, so what makes Bri stand out of the crowd? First of all, she can actually sing. So well, actually, that one has to wonder why she hasn’t landed a contract with the Walt Disney company yet. And secondly, her personality is just charming and her cosplay is classy and well done. There was one video that really got me hooked on her channel: her rendition of “Out There”, Quasimodo’s song from “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”. Yes, you heard that right, Quasimodo’s song. It’s a male song–and that makes it especially hard for women to sing. But Bri does a phenomenal job. Have a look: Her vocal capacities amazed me. She has some Disney Princess impressions on her channel as well, and it’s fascinating to see how she is able to adjust her voice to sound exactly like whatever princess she’s performing at. Her most recent Disney-princess video...

International Disney – My Top 10 Favorite Songs

Everybody loves Disney – but have you ever listened to the international versions of songs? Even when I was still a teen, back in the 1990s where Youtube was still distant future, I already collected Disney songs. Whenever I visited a country, I made sure to buy a few CDs of my favorite Disney movies that contained songs in the language of the country I visited. I got CDs from France, Italy, Danmark and even Poland. Later on I even ordered some from Japan. But then Youtube came along and things became a lot easier for us collectors of foreign Disney music. So here it is now, my top 10 of international Disney songs. #1 Chraň Bůh ty bídné – “God Help The Outcasts” (The Hunchback of Notre Dame, 1996 – Czech Pop Version) This movie has always been one of my favorites, and in my opinion a very underrated film. It is one of the Disney movies with the strongest message that still has meaning today. It is not solely about love, or finding a prince, or marrying. The Hunchback of Note Dame is about tolerance, and accepting people who are different from you… The Czech version of this song sounds really fresh and beautiful. The singer is the same who sung Esmeralda in the movie itself, and so the young voice fits the character. #2 Vindens Farver...

International Frozen – “Let It Go” (Film Version) Top 10

It cannot be debated, that “Frozen” is one of the biggest Disney hits ever since the company’s golden 90s, where they landed smash hits with “Aladdin”, “The Lion Kind” and “The Little Mermaid”. And, for the first time in forever (forgive the pun), they have finally managed to include a title theme song again that is not only worthy of numerous award nominations, but also played to no end by radio stations and television boardcasts. Whoever has not head the song “Let It Go” by Idina Menzel (or at least in the version of Demi Lovato) really has not lived on Earth for the past five months. What most of you have not heard yet, though, are the numerous wonderful international versions. I myself am a passionate song collector. Even in 1990s, when I was still in my teens, I collected Disney records from all the coutnries that I visited (which weren’t many, but I managed to aquire some French, Italian, Polish and even Danish music tapes for the 1990s movies). Ever since the rise of the internet, Youtube, iTunes and of course amazon, it has become increasingly easy to buy Walt Disney cds from differen countries. So here is my personal selection of the top 10 international film versions: #1 – Japanese This one I love because of the fresh, young voice (as much as I love Idina’s...

Traci Hines… better than the Walt Disney Company itself?

There shouldn’t be any discussion about the fact that the Walt Disney company has the reputation to produce only the highest-quality animation and entertainment programs. And even though in recent years the quality seemed to have declined a bit when it came to afternoon cartoon shows, Disney was still at the top when it came to the marketing of their movies and products. But what now if an amateur, a fan does a better job at making a musicvideo for their flagship “The Little Mermaid”. And not just better… but rocks it all the way. Traci Hines has managed to the the nearly impossible. In her freetime, she and three friends managed to create a musicvideo for “Part of Your World” that has no equal – not even among Disney’s own creations. While one might disagree with the (rather fast, and sometimes full of beats) musical arrangement, the visual effects are simply stunning, and Hines does an excellent job at portraying the little mermaid. Have a look… And for comparison, here is the official Disney music video for the song – which was released in August 2013 in celebration of the Blu-Ray release of The Little Mermaid. I can’t believe the difference… maybe Disney should consider putting Hines under contract. She certainly manages to convey the old Disney magic that the new Disney productions and merchandise...

Shane, Shanaynay and co.

Shane Dawson is up-to-date probably one of the most successful Youtubers. According to a news report a few months ago, he makes around US$80.000 each year just by his Youtube videos. Not too bad for a person making online videos, is it? Shane Dawson is the proof for how professional being a vlogger on Youtube has actually become. His comedy videos and sketches are widely popular and he has over 2.5 million (yes, you read right: MILLION) subscribers. In addition to that, he has made it to the conventional media due to the large numbers of subscribers and money that he makes, and thereby left the realms of Youtube. He was talked about in news reports, mentioned in newspapers, and more. So even if you’re not following the Youtube vloggers everyday, you have probably heard of Shane Dawson. His videos usually tend to be a bit extreme when it comes to humor, and therefore are definitely not childproof. Nonetheless, for the viewers who like sarcasm and a lot of dark humor, you will LOVE Shane Dawson. By now, he has several different Youtube channels, all of which are regularly updated. In addition to that, he started selling his own clothesline. I will talk more about him at a later point, and maybe even an interview for VLog Log, so stay...
