Ever since Michelle Phan became more famous, make-up tutorials can be frequently found on YouTube – some of them better, some of them worse. Bubzbeauty’s channel is definitely one of the better ones. Her slogan already gives it all away: Making Life Bubbiful. And that is what her everyday make-up tutorials are like: fresh, happy and easy to recreate. Starting out in 2008, she was inspired by some of the already existing make-up gurus on Youtube and created an own tutorial channel. By today she has become UK’s 2nd most subscribed Youtube guru. Her videos present a cuteness mixed with style that make her quite unique in the vast world of vlogging. Even if some of her ideas are more fun to watch than to actually recreate (like her Strawberry Nail tutorial, which I find absolutely adorable), her charming personality makes the channel a must-watch for every YouTube and VLog fan interested in...Read More

It has been 12 years since Waris Dirie published her book “Desert Flower” and thereby raised worldwide awareness of the horrible crime that is still happening in African as well as a lot of other countries in the world. A lot has happened since: Laws were passed, which declare the circumcision of women to be a crime, information campaigns have been started to inform women and men about the risks of the practice, and still: Every 11 seconds somewhere in the world a girl becomes victim to FGM, even in regions, where the psychological and physical risks of the procedure have already been explained.Read More
About two weeks ago I posted an antry on the facebook page of the worldwide campaign “Stop FGM Now!”, that are making an internation effort to stop the genital mutilation of girls and young women all over the world. Obviously, my comment was very well received, because only 1 day later I got a message in which I was asked if I would like to write articles for them. I am very happy, because this means that I can finally do something good with my writings. I’ve always wanted to help, I’ve tried to collect donations with my writings (unfortunately to no avail). But this is so much better!!! It means that I can use something that I have infinitely – namely my talent to write – and use it to help make a change in the world. I am so excited. I don’t even think my writing is that good, but however, they seem to think otherwise! *Does a little happy dance* So for all of you, who have a facebook account, please search for “Stop FGM Now” and join the group. My first article was published yesterday morning, and it appeared in 4 different languages: German, English, Spanish and French. Today I received a message that 30000 people in the Spanish speaking world were reading my article. O.o So join the fight against FGM and the sexual...Read More

Darkness surrounds me.
I am standing here, on a crowded street in a big city, and yet there’s no
light. I can see the people around me, hurrying towards their invisible
goals, destined to remain an eternal mystery to my eyes. I am alone…
everybody is alone in the darkness.
A/N (Author’s Notes): This poem might seem a little strange at first. It was a writing class assignment. The task was to create a poem in the style of “The Locust Tree in Flower” by William Carlos Williams. Pale round shape light and shadow rabbit woman man light mysterious moon...Read More
Author’s Note: Inspired by my friends and the people around me, the song “100 Years” by Five For Fighting, and an angel… This poem is actually the result of a creative writing class assignment, so my thanks also go to John Williams, British author and teacher of the class, without whom this poem would have never made it on paper. It also taught me the very important lesson that I am not a poem writer. It’s just something I’m not good at. So do not be surprised if you find the following poem flawed and somewhat uneasy in it’s...Read More
Read More
