Excerpt

One time. Just one tiny indiscretion. It hadn’t even lasted twenty minutes. And she’d been on birth control.

Sam stared at the two red lines that blurred in front of her eyes. For the past three hours, she considered options, ways, pros and cons—anything to make this work. But it all came down to your life’s over.

Her career was over. The Stargate program. Everything she’d worked for so hard. A pregnancy, resulting from an affair with her commanding officer, would become that dark blot on an otherwise untainted record that would forever brand her. Not just in the future. She could already hear the questions and assumptions people would draw. Maybe she slept her way to the top.

Just a little over a year ago, the Colonel had put her down for a promotion. Maybe she received that promotion for sexual skills rather than professional qualifications.

Damn, why hadn’t they come clean with the Air Force on time? Right after the Za’tarc test would’ve been their window. But they’d had to live under the illusion that they could leave their feelings in that room and not look back. Epic fail.

When the door opened, she wiped the back of her hand over her eyes and looked up. “Sir.”

“Carter, what’s up? I found your note.” He held up the sheet of paper on which she’d scribbled down her request for him to meet her in the storage closet in the twenty-seventh floor.

“I-I need to talk to you.”

“Sure.” He closed the door, probably suspecting that this conversation should remain private. “What’s going on?”

“S-Sir…” God, how should she start this? Three weeks ago, he’d pushed her up against the wall and hurriedly opened her pants. How eager she’d been then to kick her boots and pants off only to wrap her legs around his muscled hips while he thrust deep inside her.

She closed her eyes as heat flooded her at the memory. The encounter hadn’t been nearly enough to get it out of their systems. But afterwards they’d agreed that it couldn’t happen again, for the sake of their careers.

It was a small miracle nobody had checked the storage closet because her outcry as she came had to be loud enough to alert the two airmen on watch on the corridor. They’d gotten lucky.

Or so she’d thought.

I have no problem with such content. Please let me read it!
