Summary:
A Science-Fiction/Adventure Romance.
In the year 799 (Aschen calender), Earth is a colony under strict reign by an oppressive Aschen government. The Aschen have turned humans into slaves, and seized control over the entire planet, including the Stargate–a device that allows them to form a wormhole and travel thousands of light years across the galaxy to their home planet within seconds.
Humanity is at the brink of extinction. Due to advanced Aschen medicine human lifespan has almost tripled, but most of the human population is born infertile. Only a small percent of humans are so-called gifted ones, who are able to conceive/father children. Strict rules apply to these gifted ones, as the Aschen government wants to uphold the human population.
Samantha Carter is 25 years old. She has just come of age and undergoes her first fertility tests. When her tests turn out positive, her life is about to take a dramatic turn for the worse. Unwilling to accept a forced marriage and life in a breeding facility under Aschen control, she runs away from home to find the resistance and fight for the freedom of Earth as well as her own.
As she meets Jack O’Neill, camp leader of resistance Cell 4, neither of them realizes they are bound together by more than the mutual goal to free Earth from Aschen reign. Side by side, they fight to liberate their world from the oppression of an alien race using a second, secret Stargate found almost a century before in the Antarctica forests…
Note: Although this work borrows characters and concepts from the television show Stargate SG-1, this work stands on its own and is independent from the television show.

Galactic thanks go to amazing editor and author Raven Dark, who taught me the rules so I could break them. And who, amazingly, always remains patient, even as body parts become autonomous in my story and eyes fly all over the room. ;)
Without all of you, Stargate Aschen wouldn’t be what it is now.

Stargate Aschen Timeline
Hello Kimberly
I finished this story for the second time and I must to say it is still one of the best I have read. Have you thought about to translate it to French?
You have written other stories than this? I like long stories like this.
I want to download the ebook, but I don’t have an ebook device. Maybe someday. ^_^
Michelle
Hi Michelle,
I’m so glad you like it. You don’t need an ebook reader to download the ebook files. I also offer a PDF file of the story which you can read on your computer. And if you use an ebook program, you could even read the rest of the books on your computer too. :)
Unfortunately, this is the only long story I have written for Stargate SG-1. (I think it’s the longest I have ever written. :D )
Again thanks for reading the story and taking the time to leave a message! ♥♥♥
This is by far, the best Sam and Jack story I have ever ever read. And I’ve read a lot. Thank you very very much
Thank you so much for the nice compliment. I’m so glad you like the story!!! Anbd thanks for reading it!
I’m still floored by the amount of love this story has been receiving from the fanfom. Floored and so proud. :*
Kimberley, you have officially hooked me. Brilliant alternative reality story. So…where’s this sequel you promised? I’m addicted, I need my ‘fix’.
:) I’m glad you like it so much. The sequel is still on my mind. I have two other projects I’m working on at the moment, and after that I’ll probably start working on the sequel for Aschen. It won’t be nearly as long and extensive as this novel was, but it’ll continue the story. :)
Hi! I read this story a while ago. It is great! As an avid Stargate fan I liked the way you included events of the show to the story. knowing the show really added something to this story. You also created a solid eh.. base..environment.. background… what’s the right word.. sorry, I don’t know, hope you understand what I mean.. characters were familiar, setting completely new. I really liked it.
Although, to be honest, I’m not a fan of written sex scenes, so I just skipped them :) I’ve read hundreds and hundreds of fan fiction and this definitely goes to my top 10!
Hi Erika, I’m so glad you like the story that much. :) Sure, feel free to skip the sex scenes if you’re more comfortable with that. There’s also an abbreviated version of the story on fanfiction.net and Archive of Our Own, where most of the sex scenes are missing. So maybe you’d be more comfortable reading that version?
I decided against creating an official ebook version with the sex cut out, because the sex almost always serves some kind of character development or relationship development. So I felt that the story would loose too much development on a personal level for Sam and Jack without it. But of course that’s just my ‘reader’ opinion. Every reader interprets a story a different way. That’s the beauty of literature. :)
Its over!! :( and they got their cabin!! :) I’ve loved this story so much, it has cheered me up on so many rotten days and tormented me with cliff hangers and freaked me out with alien spiders, Its been great and I am very sorry to see it go!
Awww! I saw this review just now. This is so sweet. *hugs* Apparently the alien spiders is what a lot of people remember. Wow… who’da thought. :D I’m so glad you liked it so much though.
Just wanted to let you know that I read the kindle version, finished reading chapter 15 a like it a lot so far! You interweave original plot with events similar to those that happened in the show, such as Sam/Jack making out reminds me of Broca Divide, Sam going through Stargate first time… It was hard for Sam in the boot camp, but she succeded and lets them realize how capable and smart she is. Then her first mission which was supposed to be a piece of cake, turns bad, and Sam panicks in her first battle, but then saves them by finding out about the zat and using it. You write her excellently. I like it how she collected herself after what almost happened between her and Jack and is ready to focus on science and missions. I just hope her first time would not be with a random someone, but eventually with Jack. Wondering why Jacob isn´t looking for her, or contacting Jack about her. Thanks for this fic, I´m enjoying it very much. Gone reading… :-)
Oh… wow… This is so cool. I’ve never seen those parallels and I certainly didn’t plan for them. :O The connection that you draw to Broca Divide is actually somewhat fitting, given that they’re intoxicated. The original idea behind it was to heighten the conflict with the marriage contract. I kinda loved the irony: Jack stops making out with her because he remembers his marriage contract, and wants to be faithful–when Sam is actually the one he’s married to, but neither of them know. :D
Of course this arc also served to further establish and develop both characters: I wanted to show Sam’s sexual inexperience along with her curiosity. In many ways, Stargate Aschen is a coming-of-age story for Sam, especially if you keep in mind that in their universe turning 25 is the equivalent of turning 18 in our societies. So Sam has just reached the age where she’s an adult and she leaves home to make it in the world. The strict laws required her to remain sexually inexperienced, but now she really wants to explore that aspect of herself.
Jack on the other hand is a bit of a dark knight in this scene. On the one hand, he has urges and needs and he feels attracted to her. So for a moment he’s willing to have one of those quick, meaningless interludes with her. Of course even by making out with her, he is somewhat betraying the marriage contract and thinks he’s cheating on his (unknown) wife. His honor and integrity shine through when he stops himself even though everything inside him wants more. He’s willing to let Sam (the woman he’s falling in love with) go in order to keep the promise he made to an unknown woman. He isn’t a white knight, but definitely a dark one.
So this arc was meant to strengthen and further set-up the characters. :D But drawing the line back to Broca Divide is a really interesting interpretation.
The mission that went bad was actually not her first mission, since it happens 2 months later. ;) She’s been on some missions in between and strengthened her bond with her team–both Daniel and Jack. Even though she’s still suspicious of Jack, she’s loosening up around him and trying to see him as a friend.
And yes, it was really important to me to not show her become super-hysteric. Even though she is young, the experience with Jack is not her first bad one with men. There was Larek, who dumped her in one of the cruelest ways possible. And all the guys who tried to harass her on the streets. In a way, Sam is almost careful not to let herself fall too deeply for someone at this point. Which is why she rationalizes what happened with Jack and tries to brush it off.
In my mind, Sam wasn’t in love with him yet at this point. Jack…well…he’s a bit more complicated. He wasn’t in love with Sam yet, but his sexual experience made him recognize the potential for more if he allowed his feelings to gain the upper hand. So he tried to keep his distance. But Sam is only feeling attracted to him. Yes, she likes him, but her strong sexual attraction to him is what drives her most. She’s like a moth drawn to a flame and she burns herself in that first encounter. But even that will help her grow by becoming more cautious. So when she finally gives in to Jack, she knows it’s more than just lust and need.
Not sure if that makes any sense at all, but that’s the premise according to which I wrote the arc. :D
Anyway, I’m really glad you’re enjoying it, and I hope you’ll keep enjoying it til the end. I won’t give away any spoilers yet. That would ruin the fun. ;)
KIMBERLEY JACKSON M.I.A!!!!someone find her
I’m here! :D Don’t worry, still here… I had a few busy days, and I’m still working on the Aschen ebook, but the next update should be on later today.
Wow, gotta say, I’m kinda glad I’ve stumbled across your story so late, means I’ve had a very enjoyable couple of days devouring every word!
Looking forward to the next update :)
Thank you, I’m so glad you like it, and thank you for reading it. :) The next update is in the works.
Red Sky in the Morning – Shepherds warning. I can tell, there is definitely some angst coming!!!! Jack finally realizes that he has indeed fallen in love with his wife.. Now if only he knew how she felt about him…
Well, we still have at least 10 chapters ahead of us in this story. It would be boring if it was a happy end already… :D But don’t worry. As I said, with this couple, I always write happy endings–or at least I end stories with them being together. (Some might argue that ‘Moments Like This‘ isn’t exactly a happy ending. :P But they are together at least.)
And as far as feelings… I’d even say if only Sam became aware of how she feels about him. But Sam’s still cautious. She didn’t want to be married, so she’s taking things slow. But I think, from the way she reacts to him now, and then her reactions in the coming chapters, it’ll become pretty clear that her feelings run a lot deeper than just a superficial crush. ;)
I have a personal pet peeve with character saying “I love you” too early. (And by saying I mean saying aloud. One of those “Oh I love you so much” – “I love you too”.) The worst moment is after they have sex for the first time. It is so overused, especially in fanfiction, and to me it is such a cliché. First of all, right after sex, it’s usually hormones going all crazy, so I personally can never take anything that’s being said in the afterglow of sex too seriously. Secondly, it’s usually done so badly. It’s like the word ‘love’ is becoming completely devalued.
So I wanted to do it differently in here. I guess to me it’s a difference between ‘showing’ vs. ‘telling’ (a writer’s thing :P ). Instead of them saying “I love you”, why not show it? In the way they treat each other, they behave, in their emotions, etc. And why not create this typical first dating insecurity: “Does she like me as much as I like her? What if this is just fun for her?” etc. I wouldn’t even say it’s a universal thing, it’s just one of my personal author’s pet peeves, that I can absolutely not bring myself to do anymore. (Maybe because, I too, overused it so much in the past. :D )
Don’t worry, though. They will say “I love you” eventually… :D
I’m glad in a way that you are revising this story because I saw it for the first time at AO3. Now that I’m caught up though, I can’t wait for the next chapter to be done. I really like this story. It’s well written and it’s a unique idea or I guess you could say a new take on an episode and that’s hard to do when it seems like so much has already been done. Keep up the good work and don’t stop!
Thank you very much. I’m glad you found the story and that you like it so much. :) Yes, I didn’t have much to work with on the show. There were only two episodes featuring the Aschen. But to me they were always one of the creepiest enemies, because they’re so advanced technologically, and their attack strategy is very covert. You don’t see it coming until it’s too late.
And yes, I wanted to create something original that nobody had ever done before. Apparently it also works for non-Stargate fans, because my editor didn’t care for Stargate too much. She’d watched a couple of episodes here and there. And she keeps telling me that this story is not just for Stargate fans because it kinda creates its own mythology and explains everything. Which is great…
So I’m glad other people think this is original. You’re right, there’s so much out there that has been done already, especially in the realm of shippy stories.
Love this story can’t wait to read more!
Thank you, I’m glad you like it so much!!! :) Another update will be out later today, so watch out for it.
Loving this story!
Thank you! I’m so glad you like it so much! :D
