Mistakes Angela shivered a bit, when she felt the cool wind breeze. Yes, Jacob had been right. It was cold at the east cost this fall. So much had happened the last months. Angela had gotten acquainted with Jacob, the seventeen year old boy, who was the mysterious Sorcerer. At first, she had had some problems with the thought, but in the whole time they’d gotten friends. The Praetorians seemed to be quiet in the last time. They’d only had one confrontation... well... actually two, but the diamond story had been more another story. Angela had met Trelawney once again, when she had been in that group “Harvest Sun”. He had been, as he’d always been before. There was no difference, and Angela had finally given up hope that he really felt affection for her. At least she wasn’t pregnant. She’d been afraid at first, because it was possible, that she’d get a baby, but that wasn’t case. So she‘d started to fight again. Jacob hadn’t told her of any new plans of the praetorians, so she just relaxed at the moment. She and Jacob had a little room in a youth hostel. (Actually Jacob had it, but she lived there, too.) He was happy, to get rid of his grandma for at least two weeks. Angela yawned. It was good to have a break since so long time. But at this time she couldn’t know, that Jacob had some trouble and her break wouldn’t be as long as she’d planned. “Where is she?” – “Who?” Jacob lifted his hands. “I don’t know, what you’re talking about!” – “Sure you know! Your cute friend, that little Angela! I met her yesterday evening and she broke my nose.” – “I guess, she broke your nose because of any reason!” Jacob stayed as calm as possible. “But we don’t like if our men are broken the nose by a wanted terrorist!” Trelawney stepped out of the shadow, followed by Mr. Oliver and Anna Kelly. “Jacob! Nice to meet you!” Jacob looked at Trelawney, then he suddenly turned and ran to the exit of the barn, but from there another man entered the barn with a gun. Greg Hearney. He grabbed Jacob. “So...” Trelawney started and smiled. “Let’s see, how much time it is going to take until our sweet little angel starts to search for you.” – “You’ll not be successful!” Jacob snarled and cried out, when Hearney turned his arms on his back. “We’ll see which result we’ll get!” Mr. Oliver said coldly and then they took Jacob with them. Angela read her newspaper and looked up time and again. She was furious. Why did Jacob always have to be late? And today was his record. One hour and 12 minutes. Finally, she got up and paid her coffee. “If my friend comes now, please tell him, I am at home! His name is Jacob!” she ordered to the waitress. Then she made her way along the street. She looked into the windows of some shops and noticed, that all that stuff was much too expensive for her. And when she reached their youth hostel, she’d completely calmed down. She’d simply ask Jacob, where he’d been and then think about a revenge. Yeah, that was what she’d do! But when she entered their room, there was nobody. “Jacob! I don’t like these kinds of jokes! You forgot our meeting!” she said loudly, while she threw her shoes into a corner of the room. “Jacob?” When she looked around, she suddenly noticed, that Jacob’s laptop was missing. She sat down on a table and took a strawberry from a plate in the middle of the table. While she ate the fruit, she opened her own laptop and saw, that she had an e-mail. She opened the file. Help! I'm in bad trouble! Come to the barn, that we discovered yesterday! Jacob. Angela caught breath in disbelieving. “I don’t believe, what I read!!!” She got up and took her jacket and her shows, when she suddenly realized something important. Why had Jacob send a message to her? Where did he get the energy from? In that barn, there was no energy! She stared out of the window. Could it be...? She sat down and started to press some keys of her laptop. She’d find out, where the resource of the e-mail was. For five minutes, she tipped her keys and gazed on her screen, when she suddenly nodded. “I knew, it is a trap! The resource is quite another place!” Her screen showed her a place not far away from the barn. She would go there! Determined she took her laptop and left the youth hostel. Despairing, Jacob tried to free himself from the shackles. A strong rope held his hands and ankles. He was in the barn again. Trelawney and Hearney had brought him back here, after they’d send a message with his laptop from that damned house. They wanted Angela to come to that house. And as he knew Angela, she’d go there. And than Trelawney had won. The more he thought about that possibility, the more furious he got. There had to be a way to free himself. Suddenly he remembered of a repair kit, he and Angela had discovered yesterday. But how to get into the other corner of the barn, which seemed to be much larger than yesterday to him. Slowly he started to roll on his back, and then to the other side. So he went on. After five minutes he looked to the corner and sighed. “This is going to take until Christmas!” But he kept going. When Angela approached to the house, she was very careful. She didn’t know, who had kidnapped Jacob, and she didn’t know how dangerous these guys were. When she finally reached the white house wall, she pressed closed to it and lowered her face to a window. Carefully she looked inside, but nobody was there. The room was absolutely empty. There weren’t even furniture. She went around the house, trying to see anybody. Then she reached the front door. When she opened it hesitating, it gave a loud squealing and Angela stopped feared. It didn’t seem as if anybody was here, but she didn’t know for sure! She remained totally calm for a moment, but she didn’t heard anything. Slowly she entered the house. It was dark and seemed to be uninhabited since several years. “The only habitants seem to be spiders!” she said for calming herself down, but somehow it didn’t work. She had a strange feeling, that another person was in this house. “Hallo?” Her voice was shaking. “Jacob?” The door behind her closed and Angela spun round. It had only been the wind, that had slammed the door. The woman breathed in broken tension. Then she started to investigate the rooms. They were all empty, at least in the ground floor. She carefully started to make her way up the steps to the first floor, when she heard a strange sound from downstairs. The front door opened and she heard people come in. “I’m sure, she’ll come!” – “But if she doesn’t think of looking for the research of the e-mail?” – “She will, I’m sure!” – “I warn you, Trelawney! You know, if it was me, I’d already killed her! I had killed her at the first moment, I met her. I’ve let you your fun to play a game with her, but Kelly told me something about an affaire!” Angela caught her breath and went silently the last steps up. Then she hid behind a little cupboard. “An affaire? That’s nonsense! There was nothing with Angela! At least nothing serious!” Angela covered her mouth with her hand and tried to stay calm. But a deep sadness took possess of her heart. Why? She wasn’t able to understand her own feelings. When she heard the men come upstairs, she pressed closer to the wall and held breath. “and what do we do with that guy, Jacob?” – “If we have Angela, we’ll kill him! He’s a witness!” Trelawney suggested. Angela could identify the other man now. The one was Greg Hearney and the other was Mr. Oliver. She had to come out of here, but she didn’t know how yet. The three disappeared into another room. Angela looked carefully round the corner of the cupboard. The door was half opened. She got up and tiptoed to the door. Then she looked round the corner. They stood with their backs to her. Angela went silently to the stairs, when Greg Hearney suddenly turned around. “STOP!” Angela heard a gunshot, then she started to run downstairs. She stumbled and fell to the ground, but she got up again. “Stop!” Trelawney. Angela turned around for a little moment. “Angela! Stay! I promise, we’ll not kill you!” Angela shook her head. “Why should I believe what you say, huh? You betrayed me before!” – “You should better believe me, because I am going to shoot, if you try to flee!” Angela turned and reached the door. When she stepped outside, she closed her eyes for a second, but she didn’t stop to run. Jacob wasn’t in that house, but where had they hid him? “ANGELA!” The woman heard the sound of a shot, but she didn’t stop. She passed through a field of corn, trying to hide somewhere, when she suddenly ran into a person. Both fell to the ground, and when Angela opened her eyes, she looked into the eyes of Jacob. “You?!?” she whispered. “Where are you coming from?” – “They kept me prisoner in that old barn, but I was able to escape! I came to warn you!” – “A little bit too late!” Angela said. “I’ve already met Trelawney and the others! We have to get away from here!” – “But where? I’m sure, that praetorian woman... Anna Kelly... is here somewhere! She followed me!” – “Great!” Angela sighed. “Well... let’s go back to that barn! I’m sure, they’ll search all around this place, except the barn, because you escaped from there. They’ll think, it would be foolish of us to go back!” – “Okay! Come on!” They passed the field and looked around. When they saw, that nobody was in sight, they ran over to the next field. Five minutes later, they reached the barn. “Oh my goodness!” Angela gasped. They hid in the barn behind an old tractor. “Jacob! I expect an explanation! How did you get in that trouble?” Angela was really angry. Jacob looked at her. “Remember that guy yesterday, who wanted to dance with you?” – “Sure!” – “He called me to come here and I did! How could I know, that he was ordered to call me by the praetorians.” Jacob defended himself. Angela shook her head. “Why didn’t you say anything? We had a deal, remember?” – “Yeah!” Jacob lifted his eyes to the ceiling. “Sure Mom!” They kept silence, until Angela suddenly turned. “I’m glad you’re all right!” she smiled. Jacob smiled back. “I think, we should try to reach the main street for going back to the city, don’t you think?” – “Agreed!” Angela got up and gave her hand to Jacob. “Come on!” He took her hand and she pulled him up, which ended in both lying laughing on the ground. “You should do a little training! You weigh too much!” Angela wasn’t able to stop laughing. They were still laughing, when they came out of the barn. But suddenly, Jacob grasped Angela’s arm and caught his breath. “What?” Angela was still giggling, then she noticed the four persons standing ten meters away. “What a surprise!” Anna Kelly said. Jacob turned, grasping Angela and pulled her with him back into the barn. But Angela wasn’t prepared for that quick escape and so she fell to the ground. Before she was able to get up again, she felt a strong grasp that pulled her up. Greg Hearney. “Here we have number one!” he said, while Kelly was after Jacob. Angela tried to free herself and get up, but Hearney pushed her to the ground. “Damned bitch! You were a problem to us for so long, that I’d like to kill you myself!” – “HEARNEY!” Trelawney voice was in a tone, that Hearney relaxed the grasp a bit. “Sir?” Trelawney looked at him warning. “She’s a lady, remember that. And maybe we are still in need of her!” some minutes later, Anna Kelly came out of the barn. “I’m sorry, but he disappeared.” She was out of breath. “That damned boy fooled us! The barn has a second exit! He must have escaped into the forest!” Mr. Oliver took breath. “JACOB! COME OUT, OR WE’LL KILL YOUR LITTLE GIRLFRIEND!” Nothing happened. Oliver nodded at Hearney, who pulled Angela up. “This is your last chance! We’ll not kill any of you, if you surrender now!!!” they waited two minutes, then Mr. Oliver nodded at Hearney. “Kill her!” Hearney took his gun. “Sir!” Trelawney looked at his boss. “She knows Sorcerer! If we kill her, we’ll never get him!” – “We won’t get him, if we don’t kill her either, because she wouldn’t say anything!” Oliver said. Trelawney looked at Angela. “Well... you’d better say us the name of Sorcerer, honey!” The woman looked into his eyes. “I don’t know him!” – “Angela! Don’t lie at us! We know, that you had contact to him several times!” Trelawney said and went round her. “Hearney! Let her go! I wouldn’t say anything if I was treated like that either! ...Well... Angela? What about Sorcerer?” – “I don’t know anything, but even if I knew, I would surely not tell you!” Mr. Oliver turned. “Hearney! Kill her!” Angela started to fight. “No... you’ll not achieve anything, if you kill me!” She said and Trelawney looked at Hearney. “I’ll do that! I’ve been waiting for that moment for so long!” He took his gun and smiled at Angela. “Well... Angel... I think, that’s in which it ends up!” – “Trelawney!” Oliver lifted his eyebrows. “Please... deal with that inside of the barn. We don’t want to finish her life here, with witnesses, do we?” Trelawney nodded, took Angela and pulled her into the barn. She fought against the grasp and tried to free herself to escape. “NO! Please!” – “Angel!” – “If you do that... you’ll never find him...” – “Angel, listen to me!” Angela stopped. She felt Sean Trelawney’s mouth at her ear. “I am going to shoot to the ceiling, and you’ll run to that exit, understood? Hide yourself as good as you can!” – “What?” Angela couldn’t believe, what she heard. “Is that another game, Trelawney?” He pushed her against the wooden wall of the barn. “I think, I’d really miss you, if you died...” His mouth covered hers in infinite passion. Angela softened in his arms. She wasn’t even sure, if she was able to hold balance if he let go of her. She flung her arms around his neck and pressed his body close to hers to deepen the kiss, but he softly pushed her away. “Angel... Angela!” His eyes closed, he whispered this words and wasn’t sure, if he’d really spoken them. “Angel! You’ve got to go!” He stroke her cheek and her lips with his fingers and leaned his forehead against hers. “We’ll see again!” he promised and smiled. “At the latest if you mind our business again!” Angela shook her head. “Not your business, Trelawney! If you murder, it is business of all!” – “So we’re enemies again?” he asked and sighed. “Well... what a pity. I’d like to replace Anna by you.” The woman looked into his eyes. “I’ll not work with murderers! So we are enemies again, if I am outside!” Angela went hesitating a bit away and her hand disengaged from that of Sean Trelawney. “Thank you!” she whispered, and smiled a bit. Then she started to run toward the door. She heard a shot behind her and ran faster. When she came out of the barn, she decided to turn left into the forest. It would be the most save way. “Angela!” Without warning, a hand pulled her back. Jacob. “What are you still doing here?” Angela asked. Jacob looked at her furious. “I wonder, what you’re doing here! I saw you... and that... guy! Are you working for him? Is that, why he let you escape? Did you have to say him, who Sorcerer is?” Angela shook her head. “Jacob! I’m going to explain everything to you, but... we’ve to get away from here!” – “I’m not going anywhere, until I know, which joke you play to me!” – “Jacob! I’m... not sure, why he let me escape! When he... was with me... you know... three months ago... well... I didn’t tell you the truth. I... We... had a little more than just playing cat and mouse.” – “WHAT?!?” The boy looked at her as if she was a green-haired alien. “You... and Trelawney...?” He got silent, then he suddenly started to laugh. “I can’t believe it! And I thought, we’d be friends! How could you do that?” Angela put her hands on her hips. “Listen. With who I spend which night is just my business. And your reaction is exactly the reason why I didn’t tell you before! Well... I don’t know, what you’re planning now, but I’m not going to wait until they get us here!” She went away. Jacob looked at her, then he ran to follow her. “I didn’t mean it!” he said in a soft voice. “You’re right! It’s none of my business!” Then he suddenly realized the tears flowing down Angela’s cheeks. “Angel? For heavens sake... I’m sorry. I didn’t want to hurt you, I...” Angela started to run. “Stop talking, Jacob!” she said, despairing trying to stop her tears. And Jacob remained calm. As soon as they reached the highway, they found a trucker, who took them with him back into the city. Angela had never felt as bad as now. “I am sorry! I don’t know, how many time you expect me to say that. I am sorry!” Trelawney sat on his chair, looking into the face of Mr. Oliver. “Mr. Trelawney! There’s just one think, I can’t understand! How could she escape? We had her! All you had to do was shoot! But she won once again! Maybe I should replace you by another security officer, who is more able than you are!” Trelawney got up. “With all due respect, Sir, but if you don’t trust me, just say it!” The men looked furious into each other’s eyes for a moment until Anna Kelly cleared her throat. “Excuse me Sir, but I’m sure Mr Trelawney is an excellent man for this job!” Oliver looked at her. “Sure he is! But if my men loose their objectivity because of affection for any of our enemies, I am not in need of them!” He turned and went towards the door. “I hope, you’ll not make a mistake like that a second time, Trelawney! I have many men, who’d like to have your job!” He slammed the door with a bang. Trelawney sat down. “Damned!” he hissed furious. “Who does all this work, huh? Who is doing his best for getting that Sorcerer guy? And then I’ve to hear things like that!” Anna stepped behind him and pulled his head against her tummy. “But he’s right, Sean! You did against an order! That... bitch turned your head, didn’t she?” Trelawney sighed. “Anna, leave off!” – “What do you think about spending this night with me?” Anna giggled. “I enjoyed our time so much!” Suddenly, Trelawney got up and turned furiously. “Know what, Anna? Get lost! Leave me alone! NOW!” His voice was piercing and Anna nodded. “Well, Trelawney! Okay! But don’t expect me to protect you again, when you make another mistake! I’ll await your next! And know what? I’m about to get your job! If I where you, I’d be damned careful the next time!” With that words she went to the door, opened it and laughed. “Good night!” And then she shut the door with a louder band than Oliver had done it before. Trelawney sighed. “Angela... what are you doing to me?” He opened the file of Angela Bennett on his personal computer and projected it to the view screen. She was the most beautiful woman, he’d ever seen. Her brown hair went perfect with her face, which was of a natural beauty. He got furious. The first time he’d seen her, he had just been angry, that she had discovered data about Praetorians. He really should have killed her at the first time! “Damned!” He slammed his fist on the table, then he suddenly took his gun, aimed and shot the picture on his computer screen. It crashed loudly and sparks flew around the screen, then the picture on the large screen disappeared. Trelawney opened his eyes and was as cool as before. “Hearney!” He said loudly trough his intercom. “Tell Mr. Oliver... that I’m in need of a new screen!” And with that words he took his coat and left the large building, which was the headquarter of the Praetorians.
